Have your say: The federal government released several label options as part of its proposed country-of-origin food labeling overhaul. THE deadline is approaching to have your say on proposed changes to country-of-originfood labels.

The federal government is keen to get community feedback on a number of proposals includingstandard labeling and clearer information of where food was sourced and manufactured.

Australia’s agricultural industry has been calling for clearer and standardised food labeling for yearsbut the federal government was forced into action last year after imported berries were found to contain hepatitis A.

The New Zealand government has expressed concern that the proposed changes would be too costly to implement.

The deadline for submissions closes Friday January 29.
