Riding atthe Whyalla velodrome, in the seniors group, Lucas Hoffmann was the true stand out on the night in front of younger brother Leigh.
In the first two races Connor Margaritis showed what he was made of before he relocates to Adelaide to start an apprenticeship.
A good crowd pleaser is the “Missing out’ race where after a bell is given to indicate a sprint lap the last over the line is eliminated until only three riders remain.
It was hotly contested with senior Aand B riderstogether with winner Lucas Hoffman first, Leigh Hoffman second and Margaritis third,doing over 20 laps in total.
Too strong for Senior B was Wil Symons back after years away, to have Harry Chen hot on his heels and Brett Harvey pushing hard while Emma Mardon played catch up.
Jonah Mislov was the junior A dashing winner in all his races and was followed closely by Cooper Jacob with a sterling effort by Amalia Evans, Daniel Margaritis and Dylan Stanton getting in contact at times.
In the Junior B Ewan Landman won three of four races against Jordon Godfrey, who won a race and Quenby Schmitz doing well after returning after illness.
Leiyah Hodgkinson was given a good handicap and was able to maintain the lead in two of three races.
Ashlyn Evans, with her new track bike, put in a consistent effort placing second in all races whileRiegan Stanton took first place in the first race.
The delightful minis group tackled the track riding on their own bikes and were cheered on.Matilda Godfrey a very strong finisher winning three or her four races, while brothers Jai and Kane Azzopardi were great rivals with Jai able to place first.
Another minis group saw Riley Mardon on his new bike win the firstrace while Imogen Stanton was middle of the pack along with newcomer Liam Laurie.
He will be back trying to work out how to get in front of Darcy Bragham who was the stand out winning the remaining three races.
There will be the Velodrome Carnival on Saturday, February 13 and Sunday, February 14 with racing starting at 4pm.
Everyone is welcome to support the local riders against others from around the State.
There will be lots to see and enjoy with canteen and bar facilities available.
