BENDIGO: A North Bendigo teenager got an unwelcome birthday present this morning after hewas charged with drink driving and driving without a licencein Pall Mall at about 1am.
The 17-year-old allegedly recorded a blood alcohol concentration of .085 and his four teenaged passengers received fines for not wearing seat belts in what Sergeant Jason Bourke described as “an accident waiting to happen”.
The teenager was also allegedly drinking a can of bourbon while driving an unroadworthy vehicle.
KANGAROO FLAT: Police are treating a fire which burnt about 20 metres of scrubnear Diamond Hill Road overnightas suspicious.
The CFA extinguished the fire, which was about 500 metres north of the intersection of Diamond Hill and Kangaroo Gully roads,at about 5am.
Sergeant Jason Bourke said police had located a McDonald’s cup at the scene containing a number of cigarette butts.
HUNTLY:Police are appealing for witnesses to an unattended campfire on Yellowgum Drive near Back Creek on Wednesday.
Sergeant Jason Bourke said the camp fire was discovered smouldering near a bridge before being put out by CFA crews at about 8pm.
“It looks likesomebody’s tried to put it out and it’s obviously taken off again,” he said.
Sergeant Bourke reminded campers that it was still a fire danger period and no fires should be left unattended.

MALDON: Two offenders believed to be male and female broke into the Maldon Golf Club early this morning.
Acting Sergeant Dave White of Castlemaine Police said the pair stole about $150 from the green fees box at about 5.30am.
The Central Goldfields Crime Investigation Unit is investigating the burglary.
