Pregnant woman killed in Hobart crash

UPDATED: A 15-YEAR-OLD boy has been charged with manslaughter following a fatal car crash that claimed the life of a pregnant woman in Hobart on Friday.

Police announced the boy was also charged with one count of stealing a motor vehicle.

He will appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court on Friday afternoon.

Police continue to investigate.

Police said four youths in aToyotaRav 4 crashed into a Nissan Tida about 1am at the intersection of Davey and Argyle streets.

As a result, the 24-year-old woman, who was 32 weeks’ pregnant,was killed. Her unborn child was delivered at theRoyal Hobart Hospitaland atwo-year-old child, also in the car, received minor injuries.

The children are at the Royal Hobart Hospital receiving treatment.

Commander Glenn Frame said a15-year-old is alleged to have been driving the Rav 4 was arrested at Kingston on Fridaymorning.

The three passengers, two 15-year-old boys and a 12-year-old girl were admitted to hospital for treatment.

Commander Frame said alleged the Rav 4 wasstolen from Glenorchy at about 11pm on Thursday.
