The Cowra tennis club’s night competition will commence in early February after a grading and team forming night next week. The summer night tennis competition will commence shortly at the Cowra Tennis Club.
A grading and team-forming night will be held next Wednesday night, January 27 with the night competition starting on Wednesday night, February 3 at 7pm and run for 10 weeks until April 6.
Social tennis will also continue next Wednesday night at 7pm and all players, family and friends are invited to play a few sets, even if you do not intend to play in the up coming night competition.
We welcome any new players and anyone recently transferred to the district, as well as all our past and present players.
This should see a good mixed standard of tennis players of all ages attending and enable players to find their respective grade.
All players looking for a team to play with and team captains looking for a new member, should attend the grading night so everyone can be placed in a suitable team.
Play will start at 7pm each Wednesday night and all teams should be finished before 9:30-10pm or even earlier if there are spare courts.
Entries are invited from teams of four players (two men and two ladies) but part teams and individual entries will be accepted and placed in teams after the grading night.
Tennis is a game that families can play together and parents are encouraged to enter with their secondary school children and help them in a sport that they can still be playing in 50 years time.
Any local businesses, banks and sporting bodies are also invited to enter and fly the flag for your business or club.
A great team building exercise.
If you have played tennis before, this is your chance to make a comeback playing against players of your own standard and it’s a great opportunity to play a friendly, family, outdoor sport, have fun and improve your fitness at the same time.
Grading is done on the team’s performance, not on individual players, so you choose the level you wish to play at when you pick your teams members.
This type of competition is always very popular as it allows players of all standards to participate, with more even and enjoyable tennis played.
We are always looking for people to fill in for teams that are short of a player sometimes.
So if you would still like to play but don’t want to be on a team full time then you can still participate when it suits you.
Please enter early at the grading night if you wish to play in round one.
Entries and enquiries can also be made to competition organisers by calling Cindy on 0414702502 or Lorraine on 63423457 or at the tennis courts on grading night.
